La Maison. Resurrection?

Glamour and elegance have established headquarters in Havana. A gorgeous property built in 1947 in the illustrious district of Miramar. In 1982, the large residence was decorated baroque-style, and the courtyard was restructured by experts from the National Botanic Garden, to then become the Cuban house of fashion: La Maison.
Besides being the venue for CUBAMODA from 1984 to 1988, the collection Fiel al Sol was exhibited here on a daily basis. An exclusive magazine, La Maison, also exposed and promoted this line.
With the fall of the Eastern bloc in the late ‘80s came hard times for Cuba and its economy, and even the Cuban house of fashion had to cope with new challenges. In the first years of the third millennium, La Maison fell into a dozed impasse of self-complacency: neither were the new girls as slim as the profession required them to be, nor was the public interested any longer in the creations they were promoting.
Fortunately, in recent times, things have started to change. La Maison is reemerging, and those responsible for the miracle are once again the younger ones. Everyone agrees that these models (both male and female) are something special. Such elegance and confidence hadn’t been seen in years. The sustained effort of coordinator Kati Gil, a former model, is also worthy of praise...
