Hand-Made
TXT: Ernesto oroza PHOTO: Rómulo Sans
With The Secret (1914), sculptor Auguste Rodin intertwines two identical right hands around a mysterious object. In 2007 Rómulo Sans produces an awesome photographical series where stunning models are clothed by the willing hands of other models.
A great deal has been written about the hand as a divine organ, fountain of imagination and beauty. Some make reference to it because it kills, for its farewell, for its caress, because it points or judges. But few make mention of its refined ability to protect from indiscreet glares at the most treasured. They conceal, but evoke with a poetic gesture the value of what is hidden. With this metaphor, the photographer has united the hands with his camera. They both conceal and reveal at the same time: they tempt and seduce.
