“I owe these lips to my Lebanese grandfather. These eyes, to my Chinese grandfather. And having turned out this white, to my Canary-born mother…but I was born in Santos Suárez, more Cuban than palm trees,” states this slender young girl, as she makes a funny gesture that erases any doubts about her ‘Havananess.’
At the age of 5 she was already modeling in the corridor of her house at family parties, but she wanted to be a ballerina. Now she says she doesn’t have the body for that. Naturally elegant, Viana has been this year’s surprise in Cuban fashion. To her modeling teacher, “she is simply in a league of her own.” She is reserved and is enjoying this success which she knows is ephemeral: by night, a model; by day, one of the top students in her Accounting course.
