Her father, Pablo Milanés, is one of the living myths of Cuban Trova but she tries to follow her own path without invoking the famous name. Born in a turbulent year (1980), she nevertheless stands out for her discreet personality. She barely takes up space, just a few simple, necessary movements like a fragile dragonfly caught in the stage light. Subtle gestures, barely insinuated; the silence is a darkness broken by the crystal of her voice. The most introspective songs fit her like a glove. For her recording debut, the homonymous Descemer Bueno (produced by 7 Rayo) she designed a luxurious repertoire: intimate boleros of great poetic force with the occasional spark of Yoruba language. She began singing with one of Cuban Jazz’s greats, pianist Ernán López Nussa, and now she is confirmed as a sóloist with an international profile though that doesn’t stop her performing with friends. Listening to her in Del miedo with Yusa: a gem.
