One of the most successful Cubans working the European catwalks today never dreamt of becoming a model. As a young man, he played tennis, studied at the Lenin Vocational School and was in his third year of computer studies when he was “discovered” by La Maison (the house of Cuban fashion). And that turned out to be an instant miracle. Every time he mounted the Cuban fashion house’s catwalk, the girls screamed with enthusiasm. Today, he has already worked for the ABC and Group and View agencies and has taken part is such prestigious events as Barcelona’s Gaudi catwalk. “When I came on, the rain of flashlights almost blinded me” he remembers of his first show. The 1.90 m tall boy with classic features and eyes as green as the sea that surrounds his native Isle of Youth has clear ideas too. “A male model’s career lasts longer than that of a top model but neither youth nor beauty last forever. I want to finish my computer studies. That is my future.”
